Context tools

Below are a selection of brief guides showing how to use the Tetradian 'Context tools'.

These are used to explore the context or 'big-picture' of an issue and are fully described

in the Tools for Change-mapping book, out soon.

The Value tool

Often a product or service is valued in only financial terms. This version of the Tetradian tool helps to measure the value of a product or service in four ways.

The Sense-making tool

Before trying to resolve an issue we need to know what the issue is, why does it happen and so on. Once we know this we will be better placed to resolve it, which is what this version of the

Sense-making tool does.

The Visioning tool

This tool is used by an organisation to define what is the issue which affects their clients, what do they do to resolve it and why does it need resolving. This will act as an anchor to check against all their strategic decisions. This tool is adapted from the original designed by Tetradian.

The Enterprise Canvas tool

This version of the tool is used as a visual checklist to understand what a service does, why it does it and what an organisation needs to effectively run that service.

The Holomap tool

This version of the tool is used to identify the stakeholders affected by an issue. As well identify what their relationships are with each other. The original tool was designed with Michael Smith.

The Guide tool

This version of the tool helps an organisation define what must stay constant and what can change when resolving an issue.

The Service cycle tool

This version of the Tetradian tool looks at each stage of the customer journey from the view of the customer and the organisation.
